The Luangwa river considers several sorts of fishes, among which some endemic of this biotope.

Of numerous sorts, notably cichlidés, widely fished for the food, as well as silurid, characins, yellowfish (family of carps) and the other sorts are present.

One furthermore famous of them is "Tiger Fish". His name is due to its appearance as well as to its teeth.
